Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Shall be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance
    1. Nursing Duties:
      1. The Contractor shall perform Nursing duties and manage patient’s needs as described in the (PD), identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor.
      2. The Contractor shall perform in accordance with the competency standards.
      3. The Contractor shall provide comprehensive, skilled, and competent nursing care specific to the age of the patients (neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric), based on nursing assessment, the nursing process, the provider’s plan of care, where condition and treatments can range from non-critical to critical.
      4. The Contractor must have knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice in order to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to the neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient(s).
      5. The Contractor must have knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, practices, and techniques in order to plan and provide-quality nursing care which meets the physical, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the Indian patient.
      6. The Contractor must have knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness in order to recognize complications and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions required.
      7. The Contractor must have knowledge of the medications and dosages in order to recognize their desired effects, side-effects, and complications of their use.
      8. The Contractor must have the ability to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions.
      9. The Contractor must have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the health care team and with Indian patients and their families.
      10. The Contractor follows facility policies and procedures, Joint Commission, OSHA, IHS, and other federal licensing, accreditation and regulating body standards.
      11. The Contractor operates and mentors specialized equipment such as respiratory equipment, thematic deceives, suction devices, defibrillator, electrocardiographs, etc., reports malfunctions to Bio-Med and /or Maintenance as needed.
      12. The Contractor interviews patients, family members, and others to appropriately determine triage classification: determines and evaluates appropriate interventions for patients in life threatening situations.
      13. The Contractor administers therapeutic measure as prescribed by the provider including mediations, intravenous fluids, blood products, respirator treatments, assist with various procedures i.e. splinting, sutures, preparing the patient, assisting during the procedure and evaluating patient outcomes post-procedures.
      14. The Contractor imitates and participated in patient education. Provides counseling and teaching to patients and families or surrogates on preventive, curative and rehabilitative measures involved in health care.
      15. Inter-Facility Transports

 

    1. Work Schedule:
      1. The Supervisor at each IHS facility shall determine specific tour of duty. The contractor shall work 100% of the contracted hours. Contractor shall work Monday
      2. to Friday 0800 – 1800, Thursday afternoons from 1300-1800, with one hour lunch every day totaling 40 hours a week scheduled by the SCN.

    1. Contractor Qualification Requirements:
    2. Experience: The Contractor shall have thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience and/or ER experience with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the specialty required by the contract, unless otherwise approved by the Contracting Officer.

    3. Level of Professional Development:
      1. Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the tie the program was completed by the applicant.

      2. Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

      3. Current certification in BLS, ACLS, AND PALS. Must have current state driver’s license.

      4. Experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

    4. License/Registration: All nurses shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing License in a state, the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States through the term of this contract.

      1. Motor Vehicle Operator’s License: If required by the position, the Contractor shall possess a valid state driver’s license throughout the term of this contract.
