Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Shall be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance
  1. The LCSW will be responsible for providing a wide range of Social Work services for the Elko Clinic. This will require a very high level of independent professional social work expertise to the clinic staff and patients of all age groups covering the following preferred areas of chemical dependency, suicide intervention, domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma, abuse of children, and elders who are facing social, physical, economic and psychological problems in their environment to strengthen their physical, mental, social and spiritual health to the highest level.
  2. The work requires knowledge, skills and understanding of human development, family systems, sociocultural barriers, and a wide continuum of pathology, ranging from mild adjustment disorders to personality dysfunctions. All the above entails diagnostic thinking, clinical decision-making and therapeutic interventions with the individuals, families, children and adolescents.
  3. Evaluates services and trends evidenced by workload demand, and care delivery systems, sources of referral, types of cases, community expectations, and availability of other resources.
  4. Provides assessments, screenings, therapy, crisis evaluations, clinical diagnosis and treatment in an outpatient clinic setting. As a member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, provides highly skilled psychosocial assessments. Screenings, diagnostic and treatment services to individuals, couples, families and groups. Emphasis is on short term techniques and crisis intervention for persons with acute and chronic physical illness,
 

 

medical, social and psychosocial problems. Works from a holistic model for the highest quality and continuity of care for all patients.

  1. While the primary duties of this position involve the provision of clinical social work services, the needs of the service unit may require contractor to provide some medical social work duties, 

  2. Collaborates with the clinic staff, staff of other IHS facilities, Purchased/Referred Care providers, and appropriate tribal agencies where there is an interchange of patients/clients to establish patterns of cooperative effort and to facilitate patient care, discharge and follow up.

  3. Provides consultation when appropriate to medical and nursing staff of programs on patient matters, which relate to community resources.

  4. Provides consultation to federal, state, tribal and local agencies with a focus of strengthening the understanding of health and social issues related to American Indians.

  5. Builds partnerships with all federal, state, tribal and local agencies to coordinate all available resources for all patients served within the community.

  6. Documents clinical data, prepares and maintains case records within the IHS data system for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, referral and program evaluation. Assists with assessments for the purpose of level-of-care determination.

  7. Submits monthly workload, narrative reports of activities and other special reports to supervisor.

  8. Routine duties shall include providing social work services and community health activities to individuals eligible for services provided by the Indian Health Service in homes, schools, clinics, job sites, and other community locations within the Elko SU.

  9. The LCSW shall be sensitive to the unique cultural factors of the people they will serve. For example, an interpreter may be necessary to understand the cultural factors that may contribute to the services identified by tribal customers, which may include the use of traditional healers, the understanding of isolation, housing conditions, and/or lack of resources.

     

    LICENSED INDEPENDENT SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

  10. Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the Master’s degree in Social Work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

  11. Current, unrestricted license with no complaint filed. Must include copy of current license.

  12. Basic Life Support Certification is requir
